Introduction to each mini ukiyo-e:
Mini Ukiyoe "Nobita"
A graphic arrangement of [Kumiko pattern] considered one of the traditional patterns.
This is a small ukiyo-e woodblock print depicting "Nobita with a slightly proud and calm face"
[Kumiko pattern] has a long history. Kumiko technology was born in the Asuka period and has developed greatly from the Heian period to the Muromachi period.
This is a traditional Japanese woodworking technique from the Edo period that combines multiple pieces of sawn wood to create various patterns without using any nails or other parts.
Miniature Ukiyoe "Dora Beauty"
It is a small ukiyo-e woodblock print using the traditional "hemp leaf" pattern as the theme and depicting the cute back of "Doramie".
The ribbon is also designed with a hemp leaf pattern, giving it an ukiyo-e-like effect.
The [hemp leaf] pattern is said to be that of a hemp leaf. Since hemp is a fast-growing and straight grass, it was customary in the Edo period to decorate baby swaddling clothes with this pattern.
In recent years, it has developed as a pattern for decorations such as partition paper, wallpaper, and panels, and is widely used as a traditional pattern that brings good luck.
Mini Ukiyoe "Cloisonne Pattern" Doraemon
A small ukiyo-e woodblock print depicting Doraemon using a traditional cloisonné pattern.
The close-up of Doraemon's face and cloisonné-patterned nose is so cute.
"Cloisonne" is also called "Waqibei".
It is a pattern formed by overlapping and connecting 1/4 of the circumference of the same circle.
Because the patterns extend in both directions and are continuous, they have auspicious meanings and are called "four directions" and "ten directions".
It has been used in interior decoration since ancient times, such as partition paper, and is still used as decorative patterns in hotel banquet halls.
