松崎人形の「ドラえもん・ドラミちゃん 江戸木目込人形」
Matsuzaki Doll Set Doraemon + Dorami
Mitsu Koichi Workshop preserves two traditional crafts with a history spanning over a century: Edo-style wooden dolls and Edo-style seasonal dolls, and also produces daughter dolls and May dolls.
From craftsmen in their seventies to those in their twenties,
craftsmen of all ages refine their skills daily,
passing on their craft and spirit to the next generation.
The Third Generation Mitsu Koichi Workshop was founded in 1920 in Takemachi Shimoya, central Tokyo, and has a history of doll making for over ninety years.
The current third-generation Matsuzaki Koichi was born in Tokyo in 1953. In 1971, at the age of 18, he became an apprentice of his father—the previous generation Matsuzaki Koichi (the second generation Matsuzaki Koichi).
In 1988, he created a samurai procession illustration based on the Shinsekai chapter of the *Heiji Monogatari Emaki* for the Kyoto Prefectural Museum of Culture.
In 1997, he became an apprentice of Serikawa Eiko, a disciple of Hirata Goyo, the holder of the Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure). In 2000, his numerous achievements were recognized, and he was awarded the title of "Traditional Craftsman" by the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
In 2005, he was selected as a "Master Craftsman of Tokyo" by the Governor of Tokyo.
To date, he has received numerous awards, including the Prime Minister's Award and the Best Craftsmanship Award, and is one of the leading artists in the Edo woodcarving (traditional Japanese wood carving) world.
